Terms of Service

Last updated: 16 February 2026

1. Acceptance

These terms govern your use of the PhoneNest website and any trade-in you submit through us. By submitting a trade-in you confirm you've read and accepted these terms. If you don't accept them, please don't use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, an Australian resident, and the lawful owner of the iPhone you're trading in. We verify ownership through driver's licence photo ID. We will not buy stolen or PIN-locked devices and we cooperate fully with Queensland Police Service on any reports of stolen merchandise.

3. Quotes and pricing

The price we quote is based on the answers you provide in our quote builder. It's locked for 14 days from the moment you submit your trade-in. The locked price assumes that on inspection we find your iPhone in the condition you described. If we find it in worse condition, we'll send you a revised offer.

Quotes are inclusive of all costs. You will never pay PhoneNest anything — shipping, inspection, and any return shipping (if you decline a revised offer) are all on us.

4. Inspection and revised offers

When we receive your device, we inspect it within one business day. If our inspection matches your description, your locked price stands and we pay you. If it doesn't, we'll email you a revised offer with the reasons. You have seven days to accept or decline.

If you accept, we pay the revised amount. If you decline, we ship your device back to you free of charge using tracked AusPost. We will not sell, dismantle, or modify your device while a revised offer is pending your decision.

5. Payment

Payment is made to the bank, PayID, or cash method you selected at submission. We aim to pay within 24 hours of inspection completing, though Australian bank processing times may add 1–2 business days for standard transfers.

If a payment fails due to incorrect details you provided, we'll email you to confirm corrected details and re-send at no charge. Cash on pickup is only available when you drop the device off in store.

6. Your responsibilities

Before sending or dropping off your device you agree to:

  • Remove iCloud / Find My iPhone (Settings → [Your Name] → Find My → off).
  • Sign out of all accounts (Apple ID, Google, etc.).
  • Remove the SIM card.
  • Disable the activation lock.

If we receive a device that's still activation-locked, we'll contact you for assistance. If we can't unlock it within seven days, we'll either return the device or place it in our Dead tier with the revised offer process.

7. Cancellation

You can cancel your submission at any time before we mark your device as "inspected". After that, the inspection has begun and we have committed labour to your trade-in. Cancellations are free and the device is returned to you via tracked AusPost.

8. Liability

Our liability is limited to the trade-in value of your device. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (lost data, business interruption, etc.). We strongly recommend you back up your device before sending it in — we cannot retrieve data from a wiped phone.

AusPost transit losses are covered by our paid label up to $250. Trade-ins valued above that use Signature on Delivery and are insured at full value.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably will be heard in the courts of Queensland.

10. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify customers with active trade-ins by email. Continued use of the service after changes go into effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to hello@phonenest.com.au or via our contact form.
